The Rising: Emerge Leadership Conference 2018 Day 1

The Rising: Emerge Leadership Conference 2018 Day 1

The Annual Youth Conference, 4th Edition — Emerge Leadership Conference, organized by Church 3:16, the youth arm of The Fountain of Life, on Friday, September 21st – Sunday, September 23rd, 2018, cannot be soon forgotten in the annals of those that were present physically and online. From the Pre-Emerge Car Wash exercise on Sunday, August 26th, 2018, that featured all members, workers and executives of the church to the beautiful T-Shirt branding for the conference by the 316 merchandise all for one sole purpose—fundraising, evangelism and awareness, one could imagine the huge impact and success of the conference.

Themed “The RISING” with Scripture reference Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon thee,” started off officially on Friday evening with the Emerge Production. The production simply depicts the awesomeness and sovereignty of God as seen in the life of an embittered man who thinks God has been unfair to him until God took him on a journey back in time to witness by himself what people like Samson, Hannah, Mary, and Job went through and their later victories. It was such a beautiful story well-crafted with a blend of music, drama, and amusement.

The opening speaker was no other person than our anointed, gifted and blessed Pastor, Jimmy Odukoya.

Pastor J, as we love to call him, speaking on the theme scripture said when God says arise, He is speaking to the church i.e. us because we represent the church.

Quoting from Genesis 13:12-17, he said the prerequisite for arising, first of all, is that you must see. Just like God spoke to Abraham, we have to see it before we can work it, hence, what is seen is very important. Even God understands the importance of vision and sight. Jacob understands the importance of seeing, too. “It was because of what they saw that they became. So, if seeing is important as it were, we cannot negate the importance of perspective. What you see is what you get. So, change your perspective,” he said.

“A lot of times we are waiting for God to pull us up, but God is waiting for us to come up”

Talking about the battle we face as Christians, he said we cannot continue to fight on the ground. We’ve got to change our perspective. Just like we know that the Eagle don’t fight on the ground, we cannot continue to fight carnally, it’s time to wage war in the Spirit! “When God says you should arise, look up, walk the length and breadth of the land (area), He is talking about volume. And that is capacity. It is time to change capacity” he said.

Talking about holding onto God’s promise and not man’s, he said if God is asking you to shine, just know that you will shine because He will never place a demand where He has not invested. You have the capacity. Therefore, be delivered from the thoughts and opinions of people. You don’t need people to validate you when God has. Quoting Winston Churchill, he said, “You will never reach your destination if you stop to throw stones at everybody who backs at you”. Be true to who God has called you to be, they may deny the process but not the product. Stop shrinking so that others will be comfortable. Occupy your position and shine!

Speaking of the power of light and source. Pastor J said;

“Every light has a source, hence, how powerful the light is, is only dependent on the power of the source. To kill the light, you will have to kill the source. They cannot touch or dim your light, they can only try. Why? Because God is your light and source!

There is only one ultimate power. The sovereign power of God!

Now, if the same place where you are shinning like the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea, if your enemies like the Egyptians try to tread same path, it’s their destruction!

We are no more in the dispensation of the prophets when the Glory came upon, the Glory is now within us; we inhabit His Glory!

It does not matter where you are, but who you are—you are gods. Wherever you lay, God lays with you, whatever you bind on earth is bound in Heaven, whatever you lose on earth is loosed in Heaven!

Listen, Darkness has a name. Darkness was employed to make sure you shine brighter! Isa. 60:2.

Speaking of how they were on set for a production and how God used him to turn a production set to a healing ground, PJ said

“In any sphere of industry or sector that God has put you, you are there to shine. John 1:5
