14 Sep EMERGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2019 DAY 2 WITH PASTOR PAUL BRIGGS
Pastor Paul Briggs is the resident Pastor at Kingsdome church Egbeda, a subsidiary of The Fountain of Life church. He is a human resource personnel, a life coach and a relationship expert. He is also an executive of the Singles fellowship of the fountain of life church.
Taking the bible reading from our theme passage, 1 Corinthians 4:20
‘For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power’, Pastor Paul takes us through the importance of power as Christians.
Power is a gift from God, it is not worked for. Acts 1:8 ‘But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth’.
We as Christians cannot be effective witnesses if there is no power, your evidence is the power within you that you manifest. The problem however is that we most times are not aware of this power and how to unlock it. There are keys to unlock this power.
He shared on how to use the keys to unlock power.
- The key of knowledge: You must know what you have. Ephesians 1:17 ‘That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him’. You are equipped with everything you need but you need knowledge to unlock it. Knowledge is critical, we have been caged by lack of knowledge. There is power in the name of Jesus, when you mention the name with understanding, something happens. To be effective as a believer, give must yourself to the word because that is where the power is.
- The key of the Gospel of Christ: Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth”
As Christians, our lives need to be checkmated otherwise we wont be effective witnesses for Christ.
We are dealing with certain sins, that are destroying us, taking life from us. God loves you the same regardless of your performance. People are going through a lot of things but aren’t delivered because nobody is dealing ortalking about it.
Our minds are filled with a lot of junk that needs to be dealt with. That is why we lose power. Sin makes us lose our confidence/self-esteem. You need to stay in the word, listen, meditate and hear the word.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit- Romans 8:1.
We have to deal with things that are preventing us from moving to the next level and having power’.
